Happy Mother’s Day

It’s Mother’s Day in Australia today. I know it’s different in different parts of the world but Happy Mother’s Day to all the mums out there.

My baby girl woke me up with a move that would not have been out of place In a WWF wrestling ring.

She had woken up at 5am so I brought her into bed with me, in the vague hope of getting her to sleep a little longer. She seemed to settle and then sat up and dropped herself straight onto my face. Happy Mothers day Mum, here’s a black eye from me! She did give me a big kiss afterwards which almost made up for it.

My twins had drawn me some beautiful pictures for Mother’s Day. The first is a portrait of me by Ashley  (pretty good for someone who only has the use of one hand!)

This next one is Carys’ picture  (nice to think she sees me as a princess – I hope that’s in a good way?)

At least they both drew me smiling. These will be packed away in my box of treasures.

After breakfast the kids and I went to visit Nanna in hospital. We took her a little treat from the patisserie to give her a break from hospital food (I also got a box of little treats for us for afternoon tea – yum)

I think it did Mum good to have the grand kids visit.

It’s been a lovely day of simple pleasures. We’ve had a walk by the river, a play at the playground, afternoon tea in the garden and lots of love and cuddles – perfect!

About embracingtheimperfections

I am a mother of six children. My children's ages range from 20 down to 1, so we are dealing with a lot of different ages and stages, not to mention a lot of different personalities. One of my twins has cerebral palsy so that adds yet another dimension to our lives. Along my journey so far I have learnt that life is far from perfect and that sometimes it's the imperfections that round out the harsh edges and give it a quality that is precious and unique. My love of the imperfect extends into my home life too. I love all things vintage, hand crafted, home grown and home cooked. I love to be creative and I love learning. I am definitely not a minimalist! I aspire to be tidy and organized but I am realizing that with six children, three cats and a crazy black Labrador that is probably beyond my capabilities, so I embrace the beautiful chaos that ensues!
