It never fails to amaze me how, in times of adversity you truly get to see the strengths and weaknesses in people. Not just in those going through the struggle, but in the people who support them.
When faced with a crisis I have watched people, who I thought were good friends, turn their backs and walk away, unable or unwilling to commit help or support. While others, who I had thought of as casual friends surprise you and take on a leading role.
There has been a lot of hurt caused in the past by those who have chosen, for whatever reasons, to distance themselves from troubled times but I’m learning that the ones who stand by you more than make up for the ones who fall by the wayside.
We have a few challenges facing us as a family at the moment and I am so lucky to have some wonderful friends who will be there for me through thick or thin. I don’t want to dwell on or go into what’s happening, other than to say that I’m so grateful for the help that I receive and I’m sure that we will get through this stage in our lives.
